Everyone else runs first-come-first-served, so the places go to whoever happens to look at their phone first. The player who has turned out every week for years loses their spot to someone who played once in March.

Turn it on and your regulars — worked out from who has actually been playing, not from a list you maintain — get the first few days. Everyone else joins later in the week. You choose how many places are held, how far back it looks, and when it opens up.

Or leave it off entirely and it is first-come-first-served, like everything else.
